On February 9th, Friar Joachim Yeo Won Yoon ofm arrived in Canada, following a period of preparation, and in agreement with his Korean home Province. Friar Joachim is 33 years of age and was ordained to priesthood in 2009. He will be taking part in our Franciscan ministry here in Eastern Canada. For the first year, he will be living at the Resurrection Friary, located on Rosemont Boulevard in Montreal, and he will study French.

The Canadian Franciscans are the founders of the OFM Franciscan presence in Korea. The first missionaries arrived in Korea in 1937, and were then joined by friars from other countries. Friars Georges Morin and André Comtois were very active in Korea for many years, and are still in close relation with the Korean community in Montreal.
